Today I spent an hour and a half at the podiatrist's having the peripheral artery disease test and ordering diabetic shoes and inserts (which used to be called orthotics but now aren't).

The test wasn't hard--only painful when the BP cuffs were inflating. I had BP cuffs on my arms, thighs, ankles and even little ones on my toes. I'll find out how I did some time in the next week or so but the wait for the shoes will be about 6 weeks.

I was gone for over 4 hours but the waiting wasn't so bad. This place has a waiting room where I can sit and be on the lookout for the van.

I had my iPad with me--no WiFi but I could play a few solitaire games while waiting--and nibbling on the raisins I'd brought along.

It was good to be back home again as the weather was blustery and rainy and cold. Now I'm back and putting myself back together after this little expedition. I still have exercises to do and a grocery list to finish but the evening can be spent with a movie and a hat to crochet.

If I were a coffee drinker, I think I'd prefer iced coffee. Hot liquids and I don't get along well.

I just finished a book called Nurses, about the important work nurses do and the crying need for more of them. They're doing an often thankless job and often getting treated badly by their supervisors, other nurses, the patients, and the doctors.

Do you do the multi-cuffs all at once, or one at a time? Seems all at once might kill you, you hardly have any blood flowing.

I had a cuff at one time, might still have it somewhere. The doctor checks, and that's enough for me. I HATE that squeezing feeling. Maybe I just saw too many Tarzan movies when I was young. Remember, there was always a run in with a Boa Constrictor. That Tarzan was bad!

He was the best Tarzan. I still remember his films, and I was a kid when I saw them. Tarzan, Jane, Boy, and of course Cheetah.

Agate, glad you are home and going to get some rest. Hope the results of the test are good. We will wait to hear.

I pulled an ANN tonight and overdid. I cooked oyster stew again tonight and I turned my back for a minute and it boiled over - milk, butter, etc. I have an electric stove with the flat top, so I can't just go out and get new eyes to go on it. I worked with some special pads you get to clean it and come special cleaner you also buy to clean it. I didn't get it cleaned until about 9:30. The house got hot without me realizing it. I finally turned on the air conditioner and it has cooled down now. I am hurting in the back of my head and I felt sick earlier. But I am better now. I had to give a shot and sometime when I give one after overdoing and getting kind of sick, I have a reaction. I hope I don't tonight. I had my nails done Friday. I did a little damage there and both my wrist, but especially my right one is sore already. Thankfully, the stove top looks pretty good.

Yup, Virginia, you pulled an ANN. The stovetop looks good and you're feeling sick. But I know the feeling. You're probably sitting there admiring the stovetop and feeling really proud that you got it looking good--as you're feeling wiped out.

And why is that whenever anything new comes along, it often turns out that you need to buy something special just to maintain it? I went through this with Teflon or nonstick coatings. You had to get plastic utensils because metal would scratch the finish, and you had to get special scrubbers too. Computers have been especially bad. I have to keep supplies of compressed air around just to blow the dust out of the PC, and a special type of cloth to clean the monitor screen. I keep busy just stocking up on these little maintenance items.

And the maintenance items need maintenance too! Compressed air comes in an aerosol can with a little plastic straw you attach to the nozzle, and if you haven't lost that little plastic gizmo and if the tiny opening isn't clogged, you're in luck because the spray just might work for you.

If the plastic straw doesn't fall out of the nozzle, that is.

Howie, during the PAD test you wear all of the BP cuffs at once but they're inflated one at a time. They're bigger cuffs than usual. I was dreading the inflating part too because I thought they might do all of them at once.

It was still painful, done one at a time, but then it always is. A boa constrictor might have been easier on me.

Virginia, After I ran out of the stove top cleaning stuff for the flat top electric stove, I tried winded. It works just as well! I use a nylon scrubby for thick burnt on stuff, and winded with paper towel for all else.

What a day you had. Virginia vs. Stove....Virginia remains undefeated

Agate, next time Sam puts on her Tarzan loincloth, and wants to play Tarzan, I'll see if she will bring a constrictor by so you can compare it with the multi-cuffs. She really enjoys swinging from vines, but her Tarzan yell could use some work.

BBS, did you mean Windex? I have already bought a very large container of the cream stuff and have replenished my supply of the scrubbers several times. The stove looks good this morning, but I am still a little wiped out. I had a fairly mild reaction to the Rebif in the middle of the night - the back of my neck is still hurting a little. Laura, my maid just got here. So she will get my shower taken care of and my tile floors and maybe a couple of other things. So glad she was coming today. Now I've got to get on with dusting or she will think I am goofing off.

And speaking of grass, I'm getting my grass mowed this afternoon. It's gotten really tall. I used to enjoy mowing, but just can't do it anymore. This will be the first mowing this year.

Thanks Vicky! Now even the squares here will know what I was reefer-ing to.

Well, the sound of a lawnmower running was a false alarm. It was a neighbor mowing his. I wonder if Sam would do mine?

Anyone seen Jeanie since the 1st? I don't recall seeing her. She usually checks in more than that.

We know Sally is missing, but hopefully know where she is.

I don't think we have heard from Nuthatch lately either.

Jeanie posted a couple of days ago. Hope you're doing OK, Jeanie.

Nuthatch hasn't been here in over a week, at least not posting, but she stays pretty busy with various responsibilities and activities, I think.

I hope that Sally is doing OK and will be back here soon.

No word from or about renee.

Anyone remember or know anything about Jiane, by the way? She had the signature line "Keep your stick on the ice." I believe she wasn't doing very well and she vanished from here.

One problem with a message board is that those posting are often the ones who feel well enough to be here posting while those who are doing badly aren't up to checking in. Or they might just be busy or tired of message boards or mad at us. There's no way of knowing.

:) Happy Easter and Happy Passover. I sent Sally an Easter card with my phone number in it. I wrote that if she could call me I could post for her. I have not heard from her. My Andy has found a lady he is dating. I hope it works out for him. Jeanie :)
