    Song of the Day

I decided I don't need permission from other users to start this thread: I'm not taking a poll. If others want to join in, I think that would be great. I can't be the only music fan here. If no one posts their own favorites after a while, or if no one says anything about the songs I post here, I will probably just let this thread die: I am not trying to impose upon others my taste in music.

That said, here is the first song of the day: Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...

Agate, how did you embed that video? I tried doing that a while ago and couldn't get it to work.

      Great song, BTW.

You should win a prize, flatcap. Figuring out how to post videos and images is an uphill climb. I'm still learning.

I've always liked that Tennessee Ernie Ford version of that great song. "Here Comes the Sun" has been a favorite of mine for many years too. First heard it on a dark and snowy day in January in Chicago on the radio, first thing in the morning. It was a day-brightener almost literally.

There's xylophone in there somewhere on this one — I think that's what it is — and the sound is fabulous, especially on the solo.

The band leader, Artie Shaw, plays the clarinet.

This song is like a conversation between the instruments.

Artie Shaw - The Sad Sack

What we have here is a guy playing a banjo, an acoustic guitar, and a mandolin on top of a funk backing track.

If it doesn't put a smile on your face, check your pulse and see if you still have one. lol

My personal favorite was Artie Shaw on the clarinet. I was raised listening to my brother who passed away last fall playing the clarinet from an early age. Then he moved on to the saxophone when he got to about junior high school. He somewhat got away from it when he became an adult and was hunting, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, and always the golf. He got back into the saxophone when he retired and was still taking lessons in his 80s. He had accumulated several and one was an antique.
