I am blown away by the prices on these coffee makers. Maybe I don't want a cup of coffee occasionally after all. Too much! Also, like you Agate it is dangerous for me to handle anything hot. I just had in mind the old fashioned kind, but maybe they don't make good coffee anymore.

Thanks for the review Agate. I did at least learn a few things about coffee makers.

Like everything else, coffeemakers seem to be getting too complicated for people to understand, but this article likes the Hamilton Beach drip-type for $37:

Virginia, I don't drink coffee so I can't be of help. I drink hot tea, iced tea, water and some diet soda.

Agate, The pierogi filling (potato and cheese) wasn't hard but rolling the dough out was tricky. We can buy homemade pierogi at a specialty store that is just as good or better than what we made. I don't think it was worth the effort but it was a fun activity to try with my son but I don't think I will suggest making it again.

I went for a walk at the local mall today after not walking for over a month. What made it bad was I just laid in bed for the last month watching tv or playing solitaire so I was not even getting a little exercise. I made 1 lap around the upper floor and 1 lap around the lower floor and I was hot and my leg muscles were tight. We usually do 2 laps on each floor. Oh well, it is a start. We are supposed to get a few inches of snow followed by rain so I'm not sure I will be getting out to walk tomorrow. On Thursday we watch our grandchildren so I should get some 'good' steps in then. A lot of up and down playing on the floor. I did get on the scale today and it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Hopefully I can start eating better along with the walking to get the extra pounds off.

My breast biopsy came out benign so that was a relief although it was an ordeal. I'll save that long story for another day!

        Have a great night!

That's wonderful news about the breast biopsy, Snuggles!

Yes, tending to little kids can be a workout. My grandson is nearly 5 and I don't know where he gets so much energy. Are your grandkids fairly young?

When you say you do 2 laps on each floor, does that mean you go around the entire floor twice? I'm sure you can get your walking legs back with some practice.

My granddaughter is 5 and my grandson is 2. Another grandchild is on the way next month. They decided not to find out the gender of the baby since they already have one of each. Fortunately my hubby comes with me to babysit and does most of the 'heavy lifting'. He is on the floor with them much more than I am. He even changes more diapers than me! He is s keeper.

Yes I do 2 laps around each floor by going around each floor twice (even walk the hallways that lead to the entrances/exits). It takes about 40-42 minutes to do both laps. Yesterday I walked one lap in 23 minutes.

My sleep schedule is all wonky again. I cannot get to sleep until late. Last night (actually morning) I didn't get to sleep until after 6AM. I think part of it is due to my inactivity. I hope I can sleep tonight since I get up at 6:30AM to go babysit tomorrow. We have about an hour drive to get there. I wish we lived closer so the drive was not so long. My mom and mother in law babysat my kids one day a week while I worked but they both only lived around a 5 minute or less drive from my house. I was thinking of moving closer until they told us last Christmas that they planned to move to be closer to my daughter in laws family. Glad we didn't move! The pregnancy and housing prices have kept them where they are for now.

Luckily the snow that was predicted turned out to be more rain here although I probably will not go anywhere today.

            Stay warm and safe everyone.

Snuggles, my sleeping is my downfall. I am useless after a night of not sleeping. Then there are mornings that I sleep really late like this morning. There are things I need to do and I can't get around to them. I get so tired of not having a normal sleep cycle or even close to one.

The day is dark and rainy here today, but I am not bothered by it. I am in anyway and I am comfortable. If I ever get through making phone calls and get some energy I need to get a few more things for my kitchen. I guess it will get done eventually, so there is no need to worry about it.

I am warm and I have food and the house is clean because the cleaners came yesterday so what more could I ask for.

Agate, thanks for the information on coffee makers. I think I will just not clutter up my counter tops. I can get my brother to bring me a cup when he is over this way. I probably wouldn't use one much anyway. Interesting how many are out there. I remember when I had one called a Mr. Coffee and it just set on the counter and didn't get used.

Virginia, I had a Mr. Coffee years ago! It was nice because it made only about 3 cups.

Snuggles, I find that I sleep better on days when I've been fairly active--and being outside in the fresh air seems to make me sleepy.

Yesterday I put a little end table together. I had tried the day before but got tired and just gave up on working on it for the rest of the day. I couldn't figure out the instructions. But yesterday I actually got it right (and the instructions were wrong). It took me a few hours but I feel I've accomplished something. It would be nice if products that need to be assembled would have clear instructions but they often don't.

Agate, that was an old picture. You have a good memory. I gave gone through the coffee makers, but there's only one Sam.

I don't think the world could hold more than one Sam.

About coffee: Starbucks makes single serving instant coffee and it really does taste like brewed.

Wonder how they do that. I'm not a coffee drinker but have known some very enthusiastic coffee drinkers, and they always refused to go near instant coffee. But that was years ago.

I wonder if Starbucks sell their brand of instant. Do you know Ikoiko?

I got hooked on Starbucks a number of years ago. Almost every time I went out I felt like I had to have a latte. I was working part time back then and would sometime buy a latte for my co-workers. It almost broke me. I started gaining weight on the milk and sugar and I stopped going.

I have bought the Starbucks instant coffee at Starbucks, at the grocery store, and on Amazon. It is about 50 cents a cup, I think, or maybe more.

Actually, the Starbucks instant coffee is called Via and costs about $1 a cup.

Thanks Ikoiko, I think I will try this. It would be easy to get. I can just order it from Amazon if I don't see it when I go to the grocery store. I will also need to get the smallest container of milk I can get. The only milk I have is almond milk which would be fine, but I drink the silk 30 which really is weak. I only use it in my cereal. I also need to check to see if I have sugar. I never use it.
