    November chitchat

Time to leave that haunted house you've been in for Halloween and get on with November, when we get an extra hour next weekend.

What's new in your life? What's been going on?

I've been to the audiologist and have to go back this month to pick up a custom-molded aid that won't fall out of my ear, I hope. And tomorrow I go to my doctor's office for the annual flu shot.

My grandson and his dad were here on Saturday. William particularly enjoys my egg beater and busied himself trying to beat some grapes and some snack crackers together. Today they went on trick-or-treating rounds, the first time for him, and I understand that his monster costume was a hit.

The rainy season has set in. I don't think it has stopped raining for a couple of days now. At least it will take care of the forest fires around here.

I hope everyone has been doing well and not having any falls, infections, or other MS problems. Take it easy, people.

I totally messed up my computer last night. I wish I knew what I did so I can never do that again, but oh well. I have it working fine now, everything is back the way it was. So what do I do next? HELLO GANG!!!

That is so unsettling when a person's computer seems to have died. But the people who make them must have realized that if they're going to expect people to get used to something that isn't as easily fixable as a manual typewriter, they're going to have to find ways of making a computer fix itself.

They seem to have built newer computers so they fix themselves more easily. Anyone remember the days of tinkering with a program called Dr. Watson? Or running ScanDisk and DiskDefrag?

Howie, you are a man who just likes to tinker. You are always working on things that are not broke. Your computer stays in the shop a lot. Just stop and think about that, and having to do without it and pay for it being fixed, the next time you think you want to tinker with it. lol! Seriously, it is aggravating when our toys are not operating the way we think they should.

Agate, you mean I finally get to make up for that hour I missed way back last Spring. My body still hasn't gotten use to daylight savings time. It will be good to have the real time back.

So far I don't have but one scheduled medical appointment in November. That is with my PCP who is leaving. This will be my last appointment with her. Then I will go to my new swingy, bouncy haired Doctor. I am so envious of that hair Just wish I had the nerve to ask how he keeps it.

I hope I am not coming down with a bad cold, but I might be. I feel like I am. I have been having a runny nose today and have a little headache. If it continues I will take a tylenol.

Housekeepers came today and I was happy about that. That's about all that's going on around here.

I hope everyone has a good November and lots of Thanksgiving food.

I really don't know what I did. I wasn't tinkering with it. My hand brushed the keyboard, and the madness began. Usually, it's Sam. She reaches up and touches the keyboard with her paw. I really think she does it just to get a rise out of me. Darn cat!

I think it could easily have been Sam. Cats and keyboards were a problem for me--so much so that I invested in a rigid plastic cover to put over the keyboard whenever it's not in use. I still have it and still use it but now it's just keeping the dust out. It's so beat up by now that it's pathetic.

Virginia, I think it just might be a wig. Wigs can be very cleverly made so they look real. I was experimenting with one many years ago and was impressed by how realistic they could be. I'm not sure how you're going to find out though.

Wigs can look good mow, but I am sure this hair is his. He can toss his head just a little and it moves.

Haha! I'm glad you've already checked that out, Virginia.

I had a flu shot last week and had NO reaction at all, not even a sore arm. Does this mean it didn't do anything to help give me any antibodies to this strain of the flu? I saw where Agate is getting over her shot and I am complaining about not getting any jolt at all out of mine.

I feel sorry for Sam. Howie says she gets plenty of turkey and cheese. Seems to me if that was the case she wouldn't always be attacking his keyboard as she is accused of doing!

A cat can never have too much turkey or cheese, or at least that's what Sam says. She likes to keep Howie busy so he'll Keep On Moving the way we're all supposed to do (see Sunshine's thread every month). She doesn't want him turning into a vegetable because she's not really very fond of vegetables. Couch potatoes are among her least favorite.

I'm not a couch potato, I'm a bed potato. Whenever I'm at home, I'm sitting on my bed, with my laptop sitting right in front of me, on a flat board that has sound proofing foam glued on one side, and blocks of wood and foam that hold the laptop so the vent for the cooling fan is open to the air.

And of course, Sam is sitting in my crotch for lack of a better word, sleeping. And that is what I'm going to do for a while. I didn't sleep last night, and after my running around, I'm tired.

                      Everyone have a great day!

Running around again, Howie? First-of-month spending spree maybe.

Sounds like Howie has quite a setup with his laptop. Pretty neat!

It's that weird time again--when we have to tinker with clocks and set them back. I like gaining an hour and don't look forward to losing it again in spring. It's a weird world we live in.

Here's an owl who prefers to look at things upside down, I guess (I found this on Facebook).

Wow -- It's soon time to move every clock in the house back one hour. UGH, But I've managed to do every one, even the microwave and oven, except one bathroom clock. I'll do the clock in the car tomorrow morning before church. I really, really hate this, I have four major clocks that are radar? or something and they automatically change themselves. I really hope we stop all of this time change stuff.
