Hello! My son Kyle has been doing well for quite some time until last week. His appendix ruptured and had to have emergency surgery to remove it on Monday and we are still at the hospital while his VP shunt is externalized to allow the infection to be treated and cleared. Due to the recent surgery our NSG is reluctant to put the shunt back in as VP. Looks like he will be converting to a VA shunt. Everyone I mention this to in the medical field kinda winces when I say VA shunt, but I'm hoping to hear some success stories or just a reality check of what we're getting into with Kyle and a VA shunt. Anyone able to share some info? Thanks!!!
