    Prices!!!

I use a 14 lb. box of kitty litter -- it's all that I can lift and my cats have used only the Scoop Away brand. The smaller local Walmart and an independent grocery are the only places in this area that carry the 14 lb. box, but both stores haven't had it for several weeks. Just yesterday the Walmart.com page said their stores had it and I ran to the store. They had only the 42 lb package! The 14 lb. box has been dropped forever. The independent grocery got some in this morning - the price went from $7.72 to $11.69. Wow.

I drove to the neighboring town to have lunch in a great Chinese restaurant. Wow. Their lunch price had just gone from $7.49 to $9.98.

I've been noticing big jumps in prices too. Has everyone decided that typical US citizens are rolling in money now that we've had those stimulus payments, and so they might as well help themselves to some of it?

I have news for them. Every stimulus payment I received went towards paying down existing debt.

I remember the problem of trying to find small enough containers of kitty litter. Back when I had a cat, I routinely bought the litter in bags (I think they were 10 lb.) unless I was buying the clumping kind that came only in plastic jugs. I looked at a major Kroger supermarket chain's Website where I routinely have shopping done and found that they're not carrying those bags any more but they did have some 8.5-lb. jugs of Tidy Cats.

Amazon has Scoop Away in the 14 lb box for $7.47. Ordering it from Amazon will save you the cost of driving around town trying to find it. With today's gas prices, that is a savings.

Rose - Amazon is one of the first places I looked and the prices were nuts. I didn't see that --- I'll sure be back there. Many, many thanks!! I love using Amazon and keep a long list of books I want so I can always easily hit the $$ it takes to get free shipping.
Agate, I am afraid to try to change brands of litter. These cats are pretty set in their ways. Maybe I should try mixing in the current brand with some new one??

That is THE recommended way of switching litters. First you try mixing a little of the new brand in, then next time mix in a little more, and in a little while the cats will have made the transition without noticing anything funny.

Hi Rose - I went back to Amazon and the best price I can find there is $18.41 (!!!) for the 14 lb. package of Scoop Away. Please, when you have time, could you tell me the name, address, site, something so I could find the less expensive litter. Thank you.
