    Talking New York City- Peace of Mind Lecture: Employment and Epilepsy (9/24/13) @ FACES


    On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 5:30 - 8 p.m., FACES and the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center will host the evening's Peace of Mind lecture - Employment and Epilepsy - presented by Joyce A. Bender, Founder and CEO of Bender Consulting Services, Inc., and Rick Ostrove, Partner of Leeds Brown Law P.C.

    Joyce will discuss how to manage employment issues for people living with epilepsy through her recruiting and hiring practices. Joyce will also share her own personal story, as she is someone who lives with epilepsy. Rick will address the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and how it applies to a person living with epilepsy in regards to equal employment opportunities.

    Visit at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. for a pre-lecture social, an opportunity to network with other FACES Friends. Light refreshments will be served. The lecture will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m.

    The lecture will take place at the NYU Medical Center, Alumni Hall B, 550 First Avenue, New York, NY 10016

    Admission is FREE - please register online by Thursday, September 19, 2013. Capacity is limited.

    About the presenters:

    Joyce A. Bender is the founder and CEO of Bender Consulting Services, Inc., a firm that recruits and hires people with disabilities in the public and private sectors. Joyce is immediate post chair of the board of directors of the American Association of People with Disabilities and is also the past chair of the National Epilepsy Foundation board of directors. Joyce holds a Degree of Science in Psychology from Geneva College.

    Rick Ostrove is principal trial counsel for Leeds Brown Law, P.C., the former Chairperson of the Nassau County Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law committee and is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA). Rick graduated 7th in his class from Hofstra University School of Law and holds a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Business Administration from the University of Albany.
