    Hi Donna!

What a nice post! It sure is so nice to get away from it all and be 'up north' as we call it here...though it would be 'down south' to you. :) The lake looks beautiful! There is nothing better than sitting out under the stars by a nice campfire. Brian takes the boys up north to my uncle's cabin in the woods for a week every year and I join them for a few days of it typically. I am glad to have that to look forward to! (don't feel bad that I only go for a few days, it is my choice as there is no indoor plumbing at that cabin! LOL!) 2-3 days without a real shower is all I can take. Though it may not be as relaxing for me this year since we are going to give Logan (age 4) his first up north experience...it will definitely be interesting! Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you, Lisa! I can tell you guys are outdoorsy by your photos. It's just so nice to be in the woods. You have a great vacation too and Logan will be great - he can paint his body and run wild :), Bless him. x

The story of your romance with Jim blossoming at the lake is so sweet. How wonderful to have such a peaceful retreat, so filled with history and special meaning to your family. I love the photo of you reading by the fire, with the portrait behind you.

I'm living vicariously through you, so please have a wonderful vacation!

I'm thinking of and praying for Caitlin and you, while Caitlin has her VEEG. I pray that all is going well.

No shower for 3-4 days would probably be a deal-breaker for me as well! Everyone must be pretty ripe after a week! I'll bet Logan will have a blast.

Hey Rose, the portrait is my grandmother, "Nana" - Christina Mary Thomson who immigrated from the very northern part of Scotland about 1915. Her father was a shepherd and the funny thing about her family is that all her sisters were called boys' names with 'ina' on the end. So she had a sister called Robertina, one called Hughina and even one called Angusina! My Nana had the good luck of being called Christina. :)

Great story! Yes, Nana did get the best of the names, for sure. Angusina? What were they thinking?

Your Nana is a lovely woman, just like her granddaughter.

    Relax and enjoy your getaway!
