Here's a l ink to a Website with lots of smilies. Many may be too small for neurologically impaired eyes but there may be some usable ones:

Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...

The "Untagged" category is huge and has a big variety of somewhat larger images.

There's all kinds of sick "people" in this one: thermometers, ice packs, crutches, carried on stretchers! This is a different subset of what Agate posted.

Ok we can't put them all in, so it's going to take some time and trial and error to implement the new smilies.
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

            Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

I was hoping that someone with the time, patience and know-how would carefully select some really good smilies for the BrainTalk collection.

Too many, and people won't wade through them all looking for those they want to use.

I'd like to see more smilies that will amplify what we're trying to say in our posts: joking, sadness, boredom, sarcasm, etc.

I'd also like to see no violent smilies but that's just my personal feeling. I think it's a good idea to avoid obscene and smarmy smilies.

              Just my unsolicited opinion!

OKay they have been sent off. I hope Agate that they are a bit of what you are looking for

Ok so I've selected about 200 smilies from the site agate posted. Next step is for David and I to decide just how many we want to have total (including our current ones) and then picking those from the 200 or so that were "pre-selected".

I've also gone through our current smilies and fixed all but 6 of the broken ones, hopefully David has a backup of those because I can't find mine

I also replaced the new vB4 smilies with the smilies from the old forum, and I kept a couple of the new ones. If you folks want the new ones too just say so

I will be changing the "tags" for the current smilies as well. IE the green smile () is * biggrin (minus the space), it will become : D (minus the space), and the current : D ( ) will become ... something else

Once all of the changes to the smilies are complete I'll post a forum wide announcement.

Ahhhh ooohh, I like the New Smilies because they look more hand-drawn, more cartoonish. Call me crazy, but I stuck w/ AOL for emails for a long time b/c their smilies were so wonderful & expressive, like kids' drawings. Not sure they're still available now. They all had white backgrounds & chalk-effect different colored outlines & expressions. I'm less wild about the pixel fill-ins that look very flat. OK, maybe too much artistic expression goin' on.

Another question while I've got you. Aliens keep eating my longer posts... Very frustrating when you've put so much time & energy into a long one. And sometimes I go back over the post to BOLD it or enlarge the FONT size, and sadly, it gets eaten before my very eyes. POOF! Any suggestions? Thanks for all the hard work.

Unfortununately, I can not find my backup of those 6 broken smilies either. However with some luck, and a a bit of searching on the web I should be able to locate the place where I originally found them in the first place. If I remember correctly, they were not hard to find.

Have you tried clicking the <-- button on your browser toolbar to see if your reply is still there? If you have, and it's still there, copy/paste it again to see if it'll work. If it's not there, best thing to do, is to copy your post on your computer clipboard using Ctrl+C, before you click Submit Reply. If it gets lost, you can paste it back with Ctrl+V. Either that or type it on notepad, then copy/paste it on here when you're done.

Thanks, Mod #5. I think I generally hit the Refresh button & it all disappears. I'll try the Back button next time. What's strange is that a few times I've submitted the post and it has shown up, & then I realize I want to enlarge it for readers with bad eyes like me, & so I highlight it and hit FONT, and then it goes POOF. I believe I've been able to retrieve it from "auto-saved" but then I'm afraid to try to enlarge again. Maybe highlighting the smilies makes it mad?
