November 2020: Keep on Moving

Rose, my guess about the dizziness is that it is MS related. My Neuro has told me that the lesion I have at the base of my skull is the largest one I have and the most problematic for me in my disease. I have some more very small ones at the top of my brain, but he says from my walking disability to dizziness and other things he thinks that one is the culprit. Also, when I saw another MS specialist who had has own MRIs done he showed me the film and pointed out that one as the worst one as far as problems. He told me I might have some problems from the ones in the top of my brain, but not what I am having now.

October's average step-count for me: 1,587 steps/day (based on only 22 days). That's 100 steps/day more than the September average.

I know I have posted about stretching in bed before getting up each day....but I spotted this on an MS website and thought it worth repeating:
“ A tool to help with morning exercise

Even before I get out of bed each morning, I take a moment to stretch my legs and arms. For my legs, I really like the green “Original Stretch Out Strap” that my physical therapist recommended. I place a foot in the strap and use leverage to gently stretch the back of my calves and hamstrings in various ways. It seems to wake up the muscles, making my walking noticeably smoother, while I feel stronger. Ideally, I stretch a few more times throughout the day as well.”

I think the “stretch out strap” mentioned above is the green strap I buy through Amazon.

If you don’t have a strap to stretch your hamstring, you can use a large towel. My PT taught me that.

Yup that is the one I use. I hang it from the bedpost. Just a few minutes of using it gives me energy to get up with vigor.

I have that same strap, but have a hard time using it. It seems I can't keep my feet in the right spot. I will try again.
