Thanks, Virginia. I had my first shingrix vaccination, and the side effects were far better than I was anticipating, just a low grade fever 24 hours after that was gone by morning.

That, and my arm felt like my doctor had taken a baseball bat to it. It also really hurt while she was injecting me with it, I don't often say "ouch" because the solution is really hurting when it's going in.

I told her that was really taking the enthusiasm away from me looking forward to getting the second dose!

Sorry that was your experience Suze-Q. Mine was different. I got it at the pharmacy and both times I just pulled the shoulder of my blouse back and he stuck with such a tiny needle. I didn't look at it, but it had to be tiny. It was over in two seconds and I was on my way. First one I had a sore arm and second one also, but less so. I am so glad to have these vaccines. Since all of you know my journey with shingles I encourage you to get the vaccine. I am still suffering the effects of the shingles. My face itches all around my eye and forehead. I am still on one gabapentin at night, but I still itch and in the mornings I wake up scratching my face. I'll take the vaccine any day.

Another thing is the possibility of it having an effect on the eyesight. However, you need to remember that I am kind of the Queen of shots as I have been giving them to myself for about 20 years and they hurt much, much worse than this. When I gave one last night I thought thank goodness it is Friday and that means I have two days off, until Monday.

Mine was a small needle too. The shot (skin puncture) didn't hurt, but the solution really, really burned going in. I'm glad yours was easy and painless.

Yours is such an unfortunate situation given we were all just in the midst of talking about it when you came down with it.

I'm so sorry you continue to feel the effects from it. I'm so glad it wasn't worse. Scary to read how frequently it strikes the eye area.
