I have posted before about my friend who has been on SSA Disability for the past 7 years, and is now having her first review. She filled out the CDR forms several weeks ago and sent them in. Yesterday, she received an eight-page Work History Report to fill out. It is identical to the Work History Report she filled out eight years ago when she first filed for benefits. Since she has not worked since 1999, she called the DDS office in her state to find out why she needed to fill out this form again. The disability examiner she talked to (a woman) said, "Honey, I really don't know why we sent that form to you, but since we did, you better go ahead and fill it out and send it in, or we might have to cut you off."
The inmates are running the asylum now...... Daisygirl Last edited by Daisygirl; 10-27-2008 at 09:55 PM. |

LOL. I was set for a 3 year review but it took me 2 years to get approved so after only 1 year they sent me the same identical paperwork I had been filling out to get original approval, they even scheduled Doctor's appointments for me. I remember thinking, it's only been 1 year do you really expect anything to have changed. Apparently it's all part of the process and at that point they had my chances of recovery "likely". It's been 13 years now since my approval and I no longer the full court press, guess they consider my chances of improvement no longer "likely".
Tell your friend to hang in there, Amber |

10 years without work puts your file in the "hopeless category".

I have heard the same thing, vision-master. According to what I have read, people who are over 50, and have been on disability for seven years or longer, rarely have their benefits ceased as the result of a CDR. And after ten years, almost never. SSA considers anyone in that situation to be permanently disabled.
