the COLA is determined based on the CPI-W for July , August and September of the current year versus the CPI-W for the same months of the previous year.

The exact increase won't be known until the CPI-W for Septmber is announced.

If the # is largely unchanged from July and August , as it is likely to be, the increase will be right around the 6% level.

Future benefits as well as future payroll taxes will ned to be looked at if SS is to remain solvent well into the future. The sooner our representatives address this problem the better off all of us will be in the future.
