I ate complete sugary crap as a kid and never brushed my teeth -- and never got any cavities.

Dental caries is now known to be an infectious disease. I was an extremely picky eater as a child, and my mom taught me to be very careful not to share food with people or do anything else that might cause me to get even a tiny bit of someone else's saliva. So my theory is that my childhood germ paranoia kept me from getting infected with the decay-causing bacteria that cause cavities, and that's why I didn't have any.
